5″ pre-finished hickory by Bellawood
Customer provided material. Very disappointed with the product. Despite the 100 year finish warranty, the finish looks thin. Most of the time a person will never be able to cash in on a warranty.
Aside from that the milling was awful and most of the boards were short.
Matching white oak to existing ash treads
We had challenging task this week. We were asked to match a white oak floor to some stained ash treads. The tricky part is that ash is a very yellow wood and white oak is very gray. On top of that the treads were stained with a wiping stain, which we can’t use on a floor, so we had to pull a few tricks out of the bag. We have to wait on the last coat. So here are some preliminary pics:
Unfinished white oak
Natural oil polyurethane on red oak
This was an old floor that had suffered some termite damage so we had replace the bad boards and re-sand.
Old Farm House Made New
With this project, even we were unsure of how this thing was going to turn out.
Even after patching and sanding there were a lot of stains in the wood.
Luckily the customer wanted a dark floor.
Red Oak
Red Oak is one of the most common species of wood seen in homes. This is due to its natural beauty. It is a very stable wood and can be stained nearly any color.
